The Neer v-ball teams headed for Lafayette High School today
for Bluegrass State Games action.
The varsity team looked awesome in their two matches this
afternoon. The Neers took on the
defending 13th Region Champion Corbin Redhounds (one of my favorite
mascots in the Commonwealth).
SK came out against the Hounds and looked a bit jittery
falling behind 3-2. That would be the
last time SK would pretty much trail the entire day as Schmee would wallop 12
serves in a row giving the Neers the mo they would never turn back. SK would go on to win that set by a score of
21-5. SK jumped out to a big lead in the
second set and cruised to a 21-10 win.
The Neers took on another dog in the afternoon matinee as
they matched up against the John Hardin Bulldogs. These dogs were no match either for the Neers
as SK puts a drubbing on Hardin.
The team looked really strong in their 2013 debut. All phases of the game were strong. However, things will get tougher tomorrow as
they enter pool play against other teams that were either first or second in
their pools today. The tourney will wrap
up on Sunday with Final Flight Play.
The JV team also won in two sets later this afternoon. I haven’t heard a final on the frosh but they
did win their first set.
