SK with 2 Wins but Looking For Big Night for Brittany!

The Lady Neers are delving away at another week with three matches in a row, this time all at the Joe.  The teams bested the Grant County Braves last night by scores of 25-14, 25-12 and 25-11.  The dub moves SK out to 4-0 in District Play with two matches left, one more against Grant and one against the WV Bearcats.  Stat leaders Tuesday night, newly signed Knight Murray with 11 kills and 2 blocks, Haley Robinson had 9 kills and 3 blocks, Ellie Smith had 2 kills  and 7 aces, Sophie Dunn had 30 assists, Rachael Figgins had 5 kills  and 3 blocks, Kelsey Schmiade  had 6 aces and Carson Elliott had 5 aces.

The Lloyd Juggernauts made a trip over to the Joe tonight for a rare varsity only match.  The Neers sweep the Juggernauts in three by scores of 25-10, 25-13 and 25-10.  Kaitlin Murray  led the way again with 15 kills and 5 blocks, Sophie Dunn 28 assists, Haley Robinson  8 kills and 2 blocks, Rachael Figgins with 5 Kills and Kelsey Schmiade   13 digs.

While it was nice to get the wins to start the week, the real talk was all about the “Night For Brittany” that will take place tomorrow night during the game against Ryle.  While SK and Ryle have become rivalries on the sports arenas and fields, the two volleyball teams have really come together to participate in several joint fund raisers for SK’s Homecoming Queen Brittany Depew.  Brittany is in a battle against leukemia and is on her “Road to Remission” that is not her first or second battle but her third fight against the illness.  There are several awesome events planned during the match tomorrow night that is expected to be picked up by some of the local news stations.  Bake sales, silent auction and the simple opportunity to donate to Brittany’s medical costs will be presented during the evening.

Please plan on coming out tomorrow night and watching two of the best teams in Northern Kentucky while they support one of the biggest hearts at SK.  I’ve been blown away by the support that I’ve seen coming from these teams and you won’t want to miss this evening  that will be very special.  Be sure to sport your orange, the color that represents leukemia awareness.  The t-shirt design below will be worn by both teams and the referees during the match.  Looking forward to seeing everyone at the Joe!  Frosh will get things started at 5:30, JV at 6:30 with the Night for Brittany taking place sometime between 7:00 and 7:30 before the varsity match.
